Bob Kurland calls himself a "retired, cranky, old physicist," who became a Catholic in 1995. He blogs and teaches adult education classes meant to demonstrate that science and Catholic teaching need not be at odds. He volunteers at a federal prison, at a local hospital and serves as a lector and otherwise at his parish.
