One of the earliest devotions in the Church was a devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. Much of this devotion derives from the biblical account of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and the blood that flowed from his side.
Here is a litany of the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ that was approved by Pope John XXIII on February 24, 1960.

Almighty and eternal God, Thou hast appointed Thine only-begotten Son the Redeemer

from the evils of the present life so that we may rejoice in its fruits forever in heaven.
