Life has become suddenly less rigid ...

Fr. Alfred Delp, S.J. (+1945):

In the course of these last long weeks life has become suddenly less rigid. Things seem clearer and at the same time more profound. For instance, how I used to mouth the words “hope” and “trust.” I know now that I used them uncomprehending, like a child. And in doing so I deprived my life of much fruitfulness. I was incapable of taking really seriously God’s command that we should trust them absolutely and whole-heartedly. Only someone who really believes and hopes and trusts can form any idea of humanity’s real status or catch a glimpse of the divine perspective.
