Russell Crowe’s profound tweet on holding the key to the Sistine Chapel

The Oscar-winning actor was keen to share the experience with his millions of followers.

The Gladiator actor was recently in the news concerning his upcoming role in the movie The Pope’s Exorcist. Crowe will play the lead, Father Gabriele Amorth, a recently deceased priest who happened to be the exorcist of the Diocese of Rome.

While filming is set to begin in Ireland this August, Crowe has been visiting the Vatican with his family. And while he was there he shared with his Twitter followers a truly awe-inspiring experience:

Sharing, “I’m not sure there’s a more special privilege in the world than to hold the key for the Sistine Chapel and to experience its glory in silence. So grateful. Sono al servicio di Roma,” the Australian actor also posted some beautiful pictures of the Chapel.

As his family takes some time to visit Rome, he has continued to share other beautiful snaps, including ones from the Colosseum that will no doubt impress his Gladiator fans, especially with his caption, “quello che facciamo in vita riecheggia nell’eternità,” which means, “what we do in life echoes in eternity.”

The father-of-two also shared with his fans how he was following in the footsteps of his parents, who also visited Rome over 20 years ago — although the actor had the privilege of visiting the museum exclusively.

Hopefully Crowe’s experience in Rome will inspire him even further in his role as the great modern-day exorcist. And who knows, maybe the actor who has expressed an interest in religion, but never committed himself to one, might find himself following a spiritual journey that will lead him closer to the Church.

While you might be thinking that the privilege of holding the keys to the Sistine Chapel is reserved for dignitaries or celebrities, for the early risers among you willing to spend some money, you can sign up for a tour before the city really awakens.
