A loving relationship is built in the little details of daily life, and these attitudes will help make your love grow over the years.

Do I thank my spouse for everything he or she does for me, even if it seems small or ordinary?

Do I forgive—and ask for forgiveness, even if it’s just for a small act of carelessness?

When was the last time we prayed together?

When do we schedule a romantic dinner?

Does my life balance correspond to my needs?

These are all questions that should become automatic. Indeed, gratitude, forgiveness, praying together, and dialogue regarding the projects and needs of each, contribute to nourish the relationship, to make it affectionate and alive, and thus to make a marriage last.

1Say “please”

Saying “please” creates respect and courtesy and avoids a relationship where one spouse dominates the other.

2Be grateful

Expressing our gratitude strengthens our relationship, teaching husband and wife to appreciate each other and inviting both to continue and grow in generosity.

3Say you’re sorry

Asking for forgiveness can keep a relationship from being dragged down by old grudges.

4Pray together

Praying together as a couple brings us closer together, helps us overcome small daily conflicts, and harmonizes our desires.

5Spend time alone together

Taking one-on-one time is essential for couples to continue getting to know each other and catch their breath in the midst of the hustle and bustle of daily life, work, and taking care of kids.

6Ask each other what you need

We need to adjust constantly to each other’s needs to find a healthy balance.

7Work on projects together

It’s good for couples to have shared projects. It gives energy to the relationship and projects us towards the future together.
