'Color My World with Love' will highlight the challenges and joy of a young woman in love.

If you’re looking for a movie filled with romance, then a Hallmark film will never let you down. The popular movies that come from the network allow people to dream of a life full of love and happiness, and maybe even a new career as an inn-keeper!

So when the network recently announced details of their latest addition to their collection, Color My World With Love, featuring a lead actor with Down syndrome, the decision was widely applauded.

Interestingly, the plot remains true to the Hallmark brand: a woman finds love, but is met with a few obstacles on her path to happiness. And in this movie, one of those obstacles happens to be an over-protective mom, according to a press release shared with Today.

The movie will premier on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and it tells the story of Kendall, played by Lily D. Moore, a talented artist who uses an impressionist style of painting to depict her subjects.

What is particularly interesting about this story is its refreshing approach to those with Down syndrome. Kendall is not only successful thanks to the support of her mom, Emma, played by Erica Durance, and grandmother Bev, played by Karen Kruper, but she’s also seen as a woman who has to contend with the normal dramas of finding love.

In true Hallmark style, food is involved in the love story. Kendall meets her potential beau, Brad, played by David DeSanctis, during some cooking lessons. While there is certainly some chemistry, her mom’s fears could put an end to their fledgling romance when she calls on Brad’s friend to help cool things down between the two.

While we don’t know what the end result will be, Hallmark has assured us in their press release that Kendall will find love. But what is particularly great about the film is that we’ll get to see a beautiful love story while also gleaning a little more understanding into how those with disabilities navigate their way through life, looking for love, compassion, and understanding.

Lead actor Lily D. Moore shared in her statement about the movie: “Everyone has a dream to fall in love and get married one day, even people with disabilities. I hope viewers take away that Color my World with Love is about painting your own story through your emotions and that we all have endless possibilities.”
