The bakery employs people with mental disabilities, and now they're sharing bread with everyone who stayed in the city.

Good Bread from Good People: this bakery wasn’t founded during the war, but during this difficult time its employees have been doing more good than ever!

The bakery has been open in Kyiv for five years and was established to provide work for people with mental disabilities. It was founded by Władysław Małoszczanko. “Before the war, we gave people with mental disabilities — autism, intellectual disability, and Down syndrome — a chance to socialize. But the war changed everything,” they write on their Facebook profile.

Despite the war, they’re still in operation. The “good people” are now baking bread for soldiers, policemen, hospital patients, and civilians who decided to stay in the city, including children from special education centers.

Bringing bread to shelters

Volunteers also deliver their bread to shelters. “There are no important and unimportant requests right now – we answer everyone and help everyone,” they say.

Since the war broke out, they’ve been working for free. Every day they bake 400 to 800 loaves of bread!

The bakery, which also supported those in need before the war, including people in crisis who had become homeless, plans to borrow another oven so they can bake even more bread every day. “We will win! Take care!” they write on Facebook. There, you can follow their updates and find links to support their work.
