Not everyone knows about the powerful exorcism prayers abbreviated on the St. Benedict Medal. Each admonishment is addressed to Satan or any other demonic spirit that may be tempting you in a particular moment.
There is much history behind the medal, and it is classified as a sacramental in the Church. This means it has a special blessing, but itself does not contain any power.
The medal is meant to be a holy reminder of God’s presence in your life and contains many prayers that can be useful in the fight against the devil and his minions.
Here are the four primary admonishments abbreviated on the reverse side of the St. Benedict Medal that you can use to reject Satan and tell any demonic spirits to “Get away!”
- V. R. S. (Vade Retro Satan): “Get away, Satan”
- N. S. M. V. (Not Suade Mihi Vana): “Never tempt me with your vanities!”
- S. M. Q. L. (Sunt Mala Quae Libas): “What you offer me is evil.”
- I. V. B. (Ipse Venena Bibas): “Drink the poison yourself!”
