The logo must express the theme "Pilgrims of hope"

In anticipation of the Jubilee 2025, the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization is launching a contest to design the official logo for the event, the Holy See Press Office announced on February 22, 2022.

The contest is open until May 20. Individuals or groups can submit their proposals via the Jubilee website, starting April 1.

According to the organizers, the logo must express “the identity and spiritual theme” of the Jubilee, which is “Pilgrims of Hope.”

It should be “an expression of both the universality of the Church’s message and the particular spiritual needs of our time,” the statement said.

Hundreds of thousands of Catholics are expected to come to Rome in 2025 to celebrate the Jubilee Year. In their journey through the Eternal City, they will pass through the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica, by which they can obtain an indulgence.

Usually celebrated every 50 years, ordinary jubilees are now marked every 25 years. In addition, there are extraordinary jubilees, the most recent being that of the Year of Mercy in 2016, called by the Argentine Pontiff to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the closing of Vatican Council II.

The first ordinary Jubilee was instituted by Pope Boniface VIII in 1300. Since 1475, they have been celebrated every 25 years, except for the years 1800 and 1850. The last ordinary jubilee was the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000, led by Pope John Paul II.
