The event at Radio City Music Hall kicked off the annual Christmas Spectacular.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan joined the Radio City Rockettes Monday in blessing the animals starring in the “Living Nativity” scene, an annual feature of the Christmas Spectacular.

With members of the Rockettes at his side, Dolan blessed sheep, a camel, and a donkey as they prepare for rehearsals for the show, which begins on November 5 and continues through January 2.

For many New Yorkers and visitors from out of town, the Christmas Spectacular is a cherished holiday tradition. In 2020, the show was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year, the Rockettes (and animals) are back together again. In compliance with New York City’s vaccination mandate governing entertainment venues, attendees over the age of 12 will need to provide proof of vaccination.
