And Pope Francis sends his own gift: 4 respirators to the children of Venezuela suffering from lung diseases.

Vatican News reported that Pope Francis spent his 84th birthday today in tranquility, silence, and prayer, sharing his meals as he always does with the other residents of the Casa Santa Marta.

The Director of the Vatican’s press office, Matteo Bruni, also said the pope received a gift of sunflowers from the poor of Rome.

They were gifted him through Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, the papal almoner, and sunflowers were chosen as “a reminder of the need to always turn our gaze towards the Lord who is present in the weakest.”

For his part, the pope sent a gift of four respirators to Venezuela in a sign of closeness to children with lung diseases.
