The Ayoub Sisters are an incredibly talented pair of multi-instrumentalists who skyrocketed to fame after posting a classical cover of Up Town Funk. They have since released their self-titled debut album, which they recorded at the famous Abby Road Studios.
“Melodies from Scotland” was their first single, released in January, 2017, just 9 months before they released their first album. Born and raised in Scotland, the tune is full of the sisters’ favorite Scottish melodies.
The lone violin at the start gives a colonial impression, but when the piano and orchestra enter with wide chords and and soft strings, the effect is absolutely breathtaking. Then the virtuoso sisters guide us through some of the most well known Scottish melodies: Auld Lang Syne, A Red, Red Rose, Loch Lomond, and Scotland the Brave.
The musicality of their Auld Lang Syne makes this an instant standard for our New Years play list, while the comforting intro seems perfect for sitting by a fire on a cold winters night.
Once again, the Ayoub Sisters have given us a track that we can’t stop listening to. We are beyond impressed by their talent at arranging, and particularly appreciated how they moved back and forth between A Red, Red Rose and Auld Lang Syne.
While we are still enjoying their first album, which was only released in September, 2017, we expect the Ayoub Sisters will bring us high-quality classical and crossover music for years to come.
