Video: Fr. Pontifex Takes on Atheism—In A Rap Song

Zoe Romanowsky - published on 05/20/15

God is really not dead

In this latest rap video Fr. Pontifex takes on the subject of atheism. Born in 1972, Claude Burns — better known by his stage name "Father Pontifex" —is a Catholic priest and hip hop artist from Evansville, Indiana. He was raised Catholic, but drifted away and became a rapper for a group named The Agape Crew at the age of 17. After his ordination to the priesthood in 2002, he was introduced to a music producer from Phatmass, a Catholic hip hop record label who signed him on and asked him to  write and perform a song on a Massmatics mixtape called "The Son Still Shines." Father Pontifex released his first studio album "Ordained" on August 24, 2011.
